Popular qawwal Altaf Raja has teamed up with Bollywood singer-composer Payal Dev for a new track.

Raja, who became a household name singing "Tum to there pardesi" in the nineties, has collaborated with Payal for a song titled "Ae Sanamm", which banks on a retro vibe.

"I composed this melody specially keeping him (Altaf Raja) in mind and imagining how he would sound on this," Payal said of her upcoming track. 'Ae Sanamm' is a song I am personally fond of. When this idea came to my mind I could only think of Altaf Raja justifying this.

We have grown up listening to his songs," she said of the 52-year-old qawwali singer, whose breakthrough album of 1994, "Tum To Thehre Pardesi", sold over four million units.

With "Ae Sanamm", Raja and Payal have tried keeping a retro nineties vibe intact.

Raja, too, wants his "new song to create a history". "Ae Sanamm" will be out on Tuesday.
