Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Dhadak marks the debut of Sridevi's elder daughter Jhanvi Kapoor. The movie will also see Shahid Kapoor's brother Ishaan play the lead role opposite Jhanvi. Dhadak is a remake of award winning Marathi movie Sairat.
Karan Johar is the producer and so we expect the movie to be far more glamorous than Sairat. Sairat was made on a low budget, but Dhadak will be made on a big budget, even though the small town setting would remain showing the rich-poor romance between Jhanvi and Ishaan.
The original Marathi film had two working class newcomers who played youngsters from villagers. Sridevi’s daughter can’t be launched like Rinku Rajguru in Sairat. Sridevi and Boney Kapoor wanted a glamorous and a lavish launch for their daughter and Karan Jogar will leave no stone unturned to ensure a grand debut of his favorite actress' daughter.
