Kapil Sharma is returning to TV with his show on December 23. Sunil Grover who was once a part of The Kapil Sharma Show will also be making his comeback to the small screen with Kanpur Wale Khuranas which starts airing from December 15 on Star Plus. He also said that comedy is a space he enjoys but more than just laughs, his show will also highlight current topics and focuses on relationships in a family in North India, a setting he identifies with.

Sunil Grover will be sharing screen space with Ali Asgar, Sugandha Mishra, Upasna Singh who were all part of Kapil’s earlier show and voluntarily opted out after Sunil’s fallout with him. Interestingly, Preeti Simoes who is producing Sunil’s show with sister Neeti was the creative director of The Kapil Sharma Show and Comedy Nights with Kapil earlier.

Kanpur Wale Khuranas comes on air a day after Kapil and Ginni Chatrath’s wedding reception in Amritsar and a week before the new season of The Kapil Sharma Show takes off. Meanwhile, Sunil is excited about Bharat which features Salman and Katrina Kaif in the lead, along with Disha Patani, Tabu and Jackie Shroff.

Last year, Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover parted ways, after an ugly mid-air tiff while coming back from Melbourne after a concert. It was said that Kapil hurled a shoe at his The Kapil Sharma Show colleague and insulted other comedians too. More controversies followed (including the cancellation of Kapil's shoots and his hot-headed attitude), and The Kapil Sharma Show was abruptly pulled off air, with a promise to return with a fresh season.
