Dishoom Movie Review

Reviews

Poker face John, not-so-funny Varun & a 3 year old Whatsapp joke about a matrimony prank call (included in this review) together make an interesting movie uninteresting.

Story: Dishoom begins with Indian Batsman Viraj Sharma being kidnapped 48 hrs prior to India-Pakistan final match in the Middle East. Indian Govt. sends officer Kabir (John Abraham) to the Middle East to solve the mission. Kabir recruits Junaid (Varun Dhawan) to help him in the mission.

What we liked?

  • Fast Paced
  • Unique Story
  • That's it!

What we didn't like:

  • Varun Dhawan's overacting, he is better in playing serious roles, his comedy timing and poor dialogue delivery makes it very irritating for the audience
  • 90's style comedy like Varun barging in an important meeting and talking about itchguard. Was it supposed to be funny?
  • Cricketer Viraj Sharma fixing his dislocated shoulder by banging his shoulder on a wall. WTF Scene!!
  • Whatsapp joke about a prank matrimony call. Everybody knows it and we just can't laugh again on a 3 year old joke.

Have a look at the Whatsapp joke in the video below. This joke has been used in this movie.

Overall Dishoom ain't a bad watch. But we wouldn't recommend you if you looking for a quality entertainer. Dishoom is just a below average Bollywood Masala movie. Director Rohit Dhawan tried to incorporate his Daddy's 90s style of comedy which doesn't work now. BTW the movie also stars Akshaye Khanna, Nargis Fakhri and Rahul Dev. We ain't a fan of their acting skills so didn't feel like writing a para about them. Overall we give this movie just 2 stars.
