Raabta begins with a damn annoying scene where Kriti Sanon is on a date wid a handsome hunk at a fine quiet restaurant and Sushant Singh Rajput, who she had met 2 days ago, suddenly pops in, uninvited, and interferes in their romantic dinner and behaves absolutely abnormal just to woo her. You would feel like getting up from your seat and walking out of the cinema hall while watching this abnormal scene. I was like wtf..director sathiya gaya hai...aisa kabhi real mein nahi hota". But yaara, yeh Bollywood hai. Anything is possible. Bheja ghar par chhodke aaneka.

So moving ahead, Saira (Kriti) and Shiv (Sushant) fall in love and then enters liquor baron Zakir Merchant (played by Jim Sarbh) who is well aware of his reincarnation and out there to marry Saira. Then Saira remembers her past life and we are transported to that era which has some stunning visuals and a wasted and unrecognizable Rajkumar Rao. We find out what had happened in the past and what Kriti can do so that the past doesn't repeat itself in her second life.

This movie is not even close to Magadheera in terms of story-telling. Sushant Singh Rajput has some of the most cliched scenes and terrible dialogues. He cracks so many jokes (at least that is what the director assumed them to be) and we all sit and watch his overacting with a poker face, esp the ending scene where he pretends to call his friend and curse the fortune teller that Kriti had met at his friend's place. Gosh! That was one hell of an annoying scene which was supposed to be funny. The acting was damn horrible. Blame it on Sushant or the role or direction, it was simply irritating. The music is mediocre and the song are forced into the movie. They were not required at all except for Deepika's title song which appears at the end. Talking about the performances, Kriti is decent while Sushant Singh Rajput is very unfunny and irritating at times. He is good in his character as a warrior but in the reincarnated version, he is an absolute torture watch on screen, thanks to the poor dialogues given to him. The only saving grace of this movie is Jim Sharbh. He is a brilliant actor and makes us all hate his character.

This wannabe epic movie is an epic failure. It is hard to imagine why Vijan chose to make his directorial debut with this silly flick.
