Mahendra Kapoor was known for the country's devotional & and Hindi films songs. Today, it's his 75th birthday. He was born on January 9, 1934, in Amritsar. Singing was his hobby since childhood.
He started his singing career by not singing hindi but also in many other languages. He gave his voice to Hindi films' songs like BR Chopra's film 'Hamaraj', 'Gumrahah', 'Dhool Ka Phool', 'Time', 'Dhundh'. These songs are still memorable and all-time hits. His songs make people convincing themselves.
Mahendra Kapoor received the Best Male Playback Singer Filmfare Award for his contribution to the film industry in films such as 'Gumrahah', 'Humraj', 'Roti Kapda Makaan'.
He was honoured with Padma Shri and then Maharashtra Government, in 1972 by Lata Mangeshkar. Mahendra Kapoor took his breath on 27 September 2008 in Mumbai.
He sung more than 2500 songs in many languages. Our film industry stereo-types all artists. MK became voice of Bharat Kumar aka Manoj kumar. MK's repertoire is beyond patriotic songs and B R Chopra films.
