Emraan shared the teaser of the film on his Twitter with a caption that read, "Students, parents, educationists, politicos, media and countrymen..the teaser of "Cheat India" http://bit.ly/CheatIndia-Teaser ... #CheatIndia #CheatIndiaTeaser."
Inspired by true events, the film features Emraan as a professor, Rakesh Singh, who believes in exchange of knowledge for money. The movie also has an interesting tagline - ‘Nakal Mein Hi Akal Hai’, which clearly points towards malpractices in the country’s financially lucrative education sector.Actor Shreya Dhanwanthary makes her film debut with Cheat India but she was nowhere to be seen in the teaser. Soumik Sen has written and directed the film that is produced by T-Series, Ellipsis Entertainment and Emraan Hashmi Films.
Cheat India releases on January 25, 2019. Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 and Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika also release on the same date. The actor was last seen in the multi-starrer Baadshaho that had Ajay Devgn, Esha Gupta, Ileana D’Cruz, Vidyut Jammwal, Sharad Kelkar and Sanjay Mishra.
