Actor Kamal Haasan has come out in support of Deepika Padukone and deplored the extremism.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is getting support from eminent film personalities in India. Earlier Shabana Aazmi had come out in support of Padmavati and had urged the industry to boycott the IFFI. Now Kamal Haasan, who has taken a plunge into politics, has come out in support of Deepika Padukone. Kamal Haasan tweeted:

"I want Ms.Deepika's head.. saved. Respect it more than her body.Even more her freedom. Do not deny her that. Many communities have apposed my films.Extremism in any debate is deplorable. Wake up cerebral India.Time to think. We've said enough. Listen Ma Bharat".

Kamal Hasaan recently announced his plans to form his own political party, and has been posting frequent criticisms not only of Tamil Nadu's ruling AIADMK, but also the BJP.

The Rajput Karni Sena has said they would punish Deepika Padukone the way Lakhshman punished Ravana's sister Surpanakha in the epic Ramayana - by chopping off her nose. Padmavati was scheduled to release on December 1, 2017, however the release date has been deferred. The new date of release for the film has not yet been officially announced.
