Himesh did his schooling at Hill Grange School in Peddar Road area, Mumbai.

He lost his elder brother at the age of 11, and decided to take up music as his career after the incident, to fulfill his father's wishes.

At the age of 16 and before Himesh went into music direction, he produced television serials for Zee TV which included serials such as Andaz & Amar Prem.

At the age of 21, Himesh married Komal and they have a son, named Swayam, born in 1997. His family, including his parents, avoid media attention. He and his estranged wife Komal ended their 22 years of marriage in 2017.

Himesh has the record of composing 36 hits in a single year. His music has it’s own unique style of composition which is based on a fusion of Western and Indian classical music with catchy techno beats.

Himesh Reshammiya gave Mika his first ever break in Bollywood but somehow that song wasn't released.

Himesh's Gharana has won 2 consecutive Saregamapa Challenge event held in 2007 and 2008.
