According to the reports coming in, Bollywood movie Udta Punjab has been cleared by the censor board. There were rumours that the word 'Punjab' may be dropped from the title, but that didn't come true. The CBFC has passed the movie with an 'A' certificate and 13 cuts. This was declared by CBFC Chairman Pahlaj Nihalani yesterday in Bhopal. A Division Bench of the Bombay High Court is expected to pass the order in the Udta Punjab case today. Last week, the High Court stated that the makers of Udta Punjab should tone down on the profanity used in this film.

Bollywood stars have strongly stood behind this movie and came out in its support on social media.

Ram Gopal Verma had tweeted that the Udta Punjab team should throw a party celebrating its victory on the Censor Board.

Sidharth Malhotra will call this a victory for 'Freedom of Expression'

Javed Jaffrey had wished the team as well. He for sure would be a happy man today.

One thing is sure that this controversy would certainly lead to higher footfalls for Udta Punjab.  If all goes well, the movie will release on June 17, 2016
