Bollywood Movies Which Are Based On Lost And Found Formula

The theme of lost and found is no new to Bollywood. We have had one of the best movies of all time with this theme, and we picked few movies that were made with this concept. Let us take you through this memory lane, and remind you the long lost movies with this concept.

Lost and found was invented by Gyan Mukherjee in Kismet (1943), starring Ashok Kumar and perfected three decades later by Manmohan Desai in Amar Akbar Anthony (1977). But few can deny that the device was patented by Yash Chopra in Waqt.

#1: Kismet (1943): This movie was made during the second world war. It was an Ashok Kumar starrer, in which he was a con man who finds his long-lost father. It was a bold movie for it’s time. And yet very successful and earned a crore in those days.

#2: Waqt (1965): The disaster drama directed by Yash Chopra was the story of a separated family struggling through trials to reunite. Waqt was a multi starrer movie Sunil Dutt, Raaj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Sadhana and Balraj Sahni. In this movie the family tries to reunite after age, this film earned 5 crores at box office.

#3: Amar Akbar Anthony (1977): Amar Akbar Anthony was Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, and Rishi Kapoor starrer. This was a story of three brothers who get separated from their parents and raised in three different faiths. This movie earned Rs 9 crore.

# 4: Pyar Ka Mausam (1969): Nasir Hussain repeated his favourite theme of a family separated by circumstances reuniting after much action. The Shashi Kapoor and Asha Parekh-starrer was extremely memorable for its songs besides having an acting role for music composer R.D. Burman.

#5: Anmol Ghadi (1946): As early as 1946, director Mehboob Khan had plotted the tale of two childhood friends reuniting as lovers despite much manipulation to keep them apart. The Surendra and Noor Jehan-starrer had made Rs90 lakh at the box office.

#6: Johny Mera Naam (1970): Director Vijay Anand’s crime drama was the story of two brothers separated after their father is killed by a goon. The Dev Anand and Hema Malini-starrer had netted Rs 3 crore in box-office collections.

#7: Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973): Nasir Hussain’s action drama used the familiar trope of siblings separated by fate. The Dharmendra, Zeenat Aman, Vijay Arora, Tariq Khan, and Neetu Singh-starrer earned Rs 3 crore in box-office collections.

#8: Hum Kisise Kum Naheen (1977): Among the many sub-plots in Nasir Hussain’s action film was one involving two separated childhood sweethearts. The musical blockbuster starring Rishi Kapoor, Kajal Kiran and Tariq Khan netted more than Rs 4 crore at the box office.
