The Conjuring 2 Movie Review

A sequel to any horror movie is usually less scary because you kind of know what to expect but The Conjuring 2 is different, better & definitely scarier than the first one.

A spine-chilling preview of The Conjuring 2 was released to the public in the United States, days before its official release on June 10, 2016. Based on the opinion of our viewers in the United States post watching this movie, we bring you the review of this much awaited horror movie.

The Conjuring 2 is a sequel to the 2013 horror movie 'The Conjuring' also directed by James Wan (Malaysian-born Australian film director). The story of Conjuring 2 is based on true events from the files of Ed and Lorraine Warren. These paranormal investigators from the seventies are played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.

The Plot:  The church is reluctant to help people with ghost troubles because they fear people pulling up hoaxes, but a family with single mother from Northern London needs their help for real. This mother and her kids have been living in their house for a while without any trouble. The father has abandoned the family and they don't have a lot of money but they take good care of each other. One night the youngest daughter Janet is playing around with a Ouija board to find out if her dad will ever return and nothing happens at first because the nights following, something supernatural is starting to torment the family and it is scary as hell. They seek out help from the church but the church first sends the Warrens to investigate this paranormal activity. The Warrens believe the family but they need a proof & something tangible to show the church that there is actually a ghost in their house. The ghost is pretty clever though and very crafty making this movie even scarier.

There are not a lot of horror movies that will scare you but there is something about ghost stories and the way James Wan builds tension that really gets to our primal fear of the unknown. In the beginning there are subtle things that happen that make you feel uneasy, but slowly the things start getting worse. As the family gets more and more afraid, you really feel that fear too.

There are a couple of moments in this movie where it is safe to let your guards down, breathe safely and relax. Other than those quite moments, this movie is creepy as hell. You will get the goosebumps and chills a couple of times during this movie and all horror movie lovers would love that. The film is not just about scary horror things but also about marriage and being with somebody that understands you. The film grounds itself in that type of a realistic family story. It is also an emotional story of a closely knit family that really makes this film better than most horror movies out there. This movie does have a lot of jump scares though. The creepy things that happen in this movie will definitely startle you. The director understands how to build tension.

All the child actors in this movie have acted well, however 11 year old Madison Wolfe really stands out. The way she portrays the fear in her eyes is really haunting. Her performance is commendable.

The Conjuring 2 is a very effective horror movie set in the 70s. The nostalgic recreation of 70s England is quite enjoyable. Overall Conjuring 2 is a must watch for all those who love horror flicks and is definitely going to be a very successful horror movie. Conjuring 2 will hit the screens in India this Friday June 10, 2016.
